SENY, Museu de la Vida Rural
Two generations of stonemasons and blacksmiths were involved in the restoration of the Monastery of Poblet after the return of the Benedictine Order in 1940.
The legendary craftsmanship of that universe of creators became our timeless heritage. A Heritage that has been taken over by the present generation of hand-forging men that work to preserve their family’s trade; linking the memory of the past with the expectation of the future.
Working as a mirror of Medieval’s Patristic Philosophy, where eternity is revealed in terms of creation, the trajectory of these two families has run a parallel course in time and space.
This work is a reflection on the passage of time and memory. This work pays homage to the passing on of traditional knowledge, it’s traces, the hardship of craftsmanship and the uncertainty of it’s future.
